Overview

In Megabonk, most items can only be proc'd (triggered) by weapon attacks. However, there are 8 items that can proc other items when they deal damage (example: Holy Book can proc the Spicy Meatball).

Items That Can Proc Other Items

How Proc Coefficient Works

Proc coefficient determines the percentage chance of triggering other items. It acts as a multiplier for the proc chance of items that get triggered.

Proc Coefficient = 1.0 (Full Proc Chance)

Items with a proc coefficient of 1.0 (Energy Core, Mirror, Cursed Doll, and most projectile weapons) trigger other items at their full proc chance. This means:

  • Proc chances work at their full percentage (e.g., a 2% proc chance stays at 2%)
  • These items behave exactly like most projectile weapon attacks when triggering other items. For instance if an item says it has a 40% chance to do something, it has a 40% chance (unless the item uses hyperbolic scaling, in which case it might be slightly less or more. But this is not really relevant for understanding the concept here)

Proc Coefficient = 0.5 (Half Proc Chance)

Items with a proc coefficient of 0.5 (Cactus, Electric Plug, Holy Book, Shattered Knowledge, Toxic Barrel) trigger other items at half the proc chance. This means:

  • Proc chances are halved (e.g., a 2% proc chance becomes 1%)
  • These items are less likely to trigger other items compared to weapons with proc coefficient 1.0. So if an item says it has a 40% chance to do something, it really has a 20% chance if triggered from an item with a Proc Coefficient of 0.5

Weapon Proc Coefficients

Most projectile weapons have a proc coefficient of 1.0, meaning they trigger other items at their full proc chance. However, some multi-hit weapons (like Axe, Aura, etc.) have a slightly lower proc coefficient to balance their ability to hit multiple enemies per attack.
